The Results of the Project 3D Education
A multi-phase training program for youth workers and educators in Luxembourg focusing on Democracy, Diversity, and Dialogue through Global Citizenship Education, combining workshops with local community practice.
Embracing Democracy, Diversity, and Dialogue – it’s about a journey taken by passionate youth workers and educators through the “3D Education: Democracy, Diversity, and Dialogue” project. The training courses held in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg served as hubs for fostering learning among youth workers and teachers dedicated to Global Citizenship Education (GCE).
The first phase launched with an immersive training course, igniting discussions and exchanges on the interconnectedness of European Citizenship, Human Rights, Democracy, and Intercultural Learning. Participants were empowered to understand and implement projects showcasing the links between these elements and underlying values.
Then came the local “Homework” phase – an interval for participants to apply their newfound knowledge. Here, they ventured into their respective communities, bridging theory with practice. This hands-on experience allowed them to witness firsthand the complexities of ‘being a citizen’ within their unique cultural contexts.
The final training course was about experiences, insights, and transformations. Once again, Esch-sur-Alzette became the nexus for further exploration, reflection, and the consolidation of learnings gained throughout the project’s journey.
Crucially, this initiative wasn’t just about enhancing the capabilities of youth workers; it was about cultivating awareness and fostering attitudes among the youth themselves. The aim was to equip them with the tools and mindset necessary to navigate the multifaceted landscape of citizenship in an increasingly interconnected world.
